About Traveling Goose Photography LLC

The registered company behind this journal: who we are, what we publish, how we operate, and how to reach us.

This website, travelinggoosephotography.com, and the editorial publication Traveling Goose Photography are owned and operated by Traveling Goose Photography LLC, an independent media company registered as a Limited Liability Company (LLC) in New Mexico, United States, with its studio and office in Albuquerque, NM.

Who we are

Traveling Goose Photography LLC is a small, independent publishing company. It was formed in New Mexico on March 6, 2019 to do one thing well: produce a serious, reader-first editorial journal about the craft of travel photography. We are not a marketing agency, a stock-photo library, a travel booking site, or a photography school. We are a publisher, a masthead, a desk, and a set of editorial standards, and the journal you are reading is our only product.

The company grew out of the working life of its founder, June “Goose” Aldaco, who has photographed on the road for the better part of two decades from a base in the high desert of Albuquerque, NM. What started as a private notebook of hard-won technique became, over time, a public journal with a name, a company behind it, and a standing commitment to the people who read it.

What we do

We research, write, illustrate, and publish long-form essays on how travel photographs are actually made, both in the air and on the ground. The writing is organized into two standing sections:

  • Aloft, making pictures while you travel: shooting cleanly through a cabin window, choosing a seat before the light happens, reading the earth as abstract composition from altitude, and working the quiet hours inside an airport.
  • Afield, making pictures once you land: blue-hour arrivals in an unfamiliar city, dawn in the high desert, balloon mornings over the river valley, and packing a whole trip into one small bag.

Every essay is built to teach a method rather than to sell equipment, closes with a short, portable “field note,” and lists the public sources used to check its facts. The plates that head each piece are original illustrations produced in-house for this journal, so everything you see here was made for these pages.

What we believe

Two convictions run through everything we publish. First, that light and patience matter more than gear, which is why our essays describe equipment generically and work on whatever camera a reader already owns. Second, that a publication earns trust by being independent: we accept no free travel, no review units, and no paid coverage, and we keep a hard line between editorial writing and any advertising.

What we do not do

So there is no confusion about the nature of this company: we sell no tours, workshops, presets, prints, or gear; we take no bookings and broker no travel; and we have no commercial relationship with, and deliberately name no, airlines, airports, booking platforms, or camera manufacturers. The craft we teach works regardless of whose logo is on the fuselage or the camera strap.

How the journal is funded

Traveling Goose Photography LLC funds the journal itself. To help cover hosting and production costs it may display clearly labeled third-party advertising, kept visually separate from the essays. Advertisers never see essays before publication and cannot buy mentions, placements, or reviews; there are no sponsored posts and no affiliate links. The full account is in our editorial standards and advertising disclosure.

Who is behind it

The company has a single member and editor, June Aldaco, who is responsible for everything published here: the writing, the fact-checking, the artwork, and the corrections. Reader correspondence is answered by a person, usually within two business days, through the contact page. You can read more about the photographer on the about page.
