What this publication is, and is not: general information, offered in good faith, that you act on using your own judgment.
Last reviewed and updated: July 17, 2026
1. General information only
Traveling Goose Photography is an editorial journal about the craft of travel photography, published by Traveling Goose Photography LLC. Everything on this site is provided for general information and education. It reflects the author's own experience and the public sources listed with each essay, and it is accurate to the best of our knowledge on the date each page was published or last reviewed. It is not advice for your specific situation.
2. Not professional advice
Nothing here is legal, medical, financial, insurance, security, or professional travel advice, and reading it creates no professional relationship of any kind. Travel involves decisions about health, safety, money, documents, and law that depend on your own circumstances and on rules that change. For those decisions, consult the appropriate qualified professional or the relevant official authority. Do not treat an essay as a substitute for that.
3. Photographic technique is applied at your own risk
The methods described here are things that have worked for the author in the field. Conditions, equipment, and your own experience differ, so results are not guaranteed, and you apply any technique at your own risk. This matters most where photography meets other people's rules. In and around airports, security checkpoints, aircraft, wildlife refuges, and private property, always follow the posted rules, local law, and the instructions of staff and officials, even when they differ from anything you read here. No photograph is worth ignoring a lawful instruction, a safety barrier, or common sense.
4. Accuracy, and things that go out of date
Facts drift. Security and baggage rules are rewritten, refuge hours and access change with the seasons, transport schedules move, and weather does as it pleases. Where an essay states a checkable fact, it names the public source used so you can confirm the current version yourself, and you should, especially before acting on anything time-sensitive. We are not responsible for changes made after a page was published, and we do not undertake to update every essay the moment the world changes underneath it.
5. What this site is not
This site is an editorial publication. It is not a travel agency, tour operator, booking service, ticket seller, photography school, or shop, and nothing on it is an offer to sell any product or service. It takes no bookings and brokers no travel. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for any airline, airport, booking platform, tourism board, or equipment manufacturer, and as an editorial rule it does not name such companies at all. Any resemblance between an illustration and a real place, aircraft, product, or person is incidental.
6. About the imagery
The plates that head the essays are original illustrations, created for this journal by or for the author, including with the help of ordinary and assisted illustration tools, and they are the property of Traveling Goose Photography LLC. They are editorial artwork that depicts the situations the essays describe. They are not photographs of, and do not represent, any identifiable company, aircraft livery, product, or individual.
7. Advertising
If clearly labeled third-party advertising ever appears, it is separated from the editorial content, as described in the advertising disclosure. The presence of an ad is not an endorsement of what it promotes, and responsibility for advertising content rests with the advertiser.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Traveling Goose Photography LLC and its owner are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or your reliance on its content, including missed flights, confiscated equipment, ruined shoots, or costs incurred acting on an essay. This disclaimer forms part of, and is governed by, the terms of use, including their limitations of liability and their choice of the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States.
